Volvo took birth when an accountant, Assar Gabrielsson, and an engineer, Gustaf Larson, met at a restaurant in Stockholm in July 1924. The plan was to make a sturdy and cost–effective car of Swedish Steel, which was considered the best in the world. April 1927 saw the launch of the first Volvo car. In 1928, a Volvo truck and Volvo bus were also launched. Volvo’s first official step into the Indian car market was in September 2007 with its most successful sedan model S80 and an impressive SUV model XC90.
