A Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) or a minivan, is also called a people-carrier, people-mover or multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) is a type of automobile similar in shape to a van that is designed for personal use. Minivans are taller than a sedan, hatchback or a station wagon, and are designed for maximum interior room. Here is a list of the some of the MUVs that are soon to make their debut in India.
Scheduled for launch in 2013, the much awaited MPV from the General Motors stables, Chevrolet Enjoy MPV, is expected to be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. General Motors plans to launch the 1.4 liter petrol engine with a maximum power of 95 bhp. This will be followed by its diesel variant powered by a 1.3 liter Multijet diesel engine with 89 bhp and a maximum torque of 200 Nm. Both the variants will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission system. The MPV, showcased in the Auto Expo, 2012, is based on the CN 100, an MUV manufactured by Chinese auto maker, Wuling. Enjoy is expected to be priced between Rs 6.5 and 9 lakhs. Though not endowed with extraordinary exteriors, the MPV is expected to be designed in a seven-seat configuration with folding seats in the third row making room for stowage when required. Going by the craze for big cars amongst the Indians, the car could be a huge entry-level success story for GM.
