MPV/MUV (Multi-purpose vehicle/Multi-utility vehicle) is a type of car that carries the similarities of a van with boxy styling and detachable rear seat for additional cargo space but is generally designed to serve multiple purposes such as carrying several people around, dragging trailers, and moving cargo for commercial purposes. Also known as mini vans, they are similar in shape to a van but are mostly designed for personal use. MPVs are taller than sedans, hatchbacks, or wagons. Elegant exterior and spacious interior make the MPV a good option for large families.

The Mahindra Xylo is completely built on a new platform. The car would be equipped with latest technology, up to date styling and spacious interiors. The MPV will come with a petrol engine having 6-speed automatic transmission called as Hawk. The vehicle is also expected to get the hybrid variant and likely to come with variety of engine options, including the M&M’s indigenously developed common rail direct injection diesel engine.
