The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has been the most-sought after luxury SUV since its debut in Indian in 2004. After five years, Toyota Kirloskar Motors though a diesel version the Prado will be appreciated by the Prado aficionados in India, hence the Indian SUV market saw the coming of the new Prado Diesel.

The basic concept for the new Land Cruiser Prado Diesel is based on the design philosophy Intelligent Modern. Inheriting the Land Cruiser DNA, the Prado Diesel will appeal not only to buyers in the luxury SUV segment, but also to passenger car owners who are looking to upgrade for the perfect combination of manoeuvrability and interior luxury. The new Prado Diesel is longer and wider by a few millimetres but a little shorter than its petrol-sibling. The SUV comes with all time 4WD that delivers amazing on-road and off-roading capabilities.

The eight-seater New Land Cruiser Prado is a Completely Built Unit (CBU) from Toyota plant in Japan. The Prado Diesel is available in White Pearls CS, Grey Metallic, Greyish Blue Metallic, Silver Metallic, and Black colours. The Toyota Prado Diesel will lock horns with the Mitsubishi Montero, Volkswagen Touareg, New Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90.

Powertrain and Performance:

The New Land Cruiser Prado comes in single variant. It boasts of a potent 3.0L D-4D Diesel with intercooler Turbocharger, 4-cylinder In-line engine under its hood. This engine can gibe out a whopping 170 bhp at 3400 rpm and a torque of 410 Nm at 2800 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox that can give exceptional the driving pleasure and convenient manoeuvrability. The engine gives an exhilarating and powerful experience on any terrain.

The Prado Diesel is equipped with full time 4-Wheel Drive. The Prado can take on any terrain with ease and has awesome on-road and off-roading capacities. Build and Styling:

The Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) on the new Land Cruiser Prado absorb anything that comes its way. A double wishbone at the front and a 4-link type suspension with lateral rod at the rear adopts Toyota Electronic Modulated Suspension (TEMS) and KDSS systems. The Toyota Electronic Modulated Suspension (TEMS) and KDSS work together to provide a balanced drive keeping the SUV stable on all terrains. The two systems also give the driver an option to switch between high, low and normal modes by means of a switch on the console. The computer for auto dampening in the Prado adjusts air suspension to retain parallel body position immaterial of the surface. The suspension height is also adjusted according to the speed of the vehicle; it lowers the height at high speed and vice-versa. To top it all, the New Land Cruiser Prado Diesel is a fun-to-drive, off-road SUV. Smart Entry allows entering or exiting the Prado Diesel without having to lock or unlock manually. Moreover, the engine can be started just by stepping on the brake and pressing the Push-Button.

It is huge, looks sturdy and gorgeous to sweep you off your feet. The Prado is a head turner in the city and leaves others trailing behind on the highway. It has beefy looks, yet is contemporary in design. It has huge wrap-around headlamps; the vertical slats grille is symmetrical with the fog lamps and air dam. The bulged fenders and side dressing give Prado that masculine look. It comes with wrap-around tail lamps on the huge C-pillar that demands attention.

The glass hatch also has those gracious curves, giving it a solid, planted feel. The 18-inch 5-double spoke alloy wheels adorn the New Prado Diesel and just look striking. The interior has comfy leather seats and room for eight passengers with enough space for luggage. The dash is nicely designed to provide convenience to the driver; all controls are easy to operate and gauges are easy to read. The driver gets a commanding view of road and exemplary feel of the ergonomically designed cockpit. The telescopic power steering comes with variable speed assist and has all the controls for MID, Audi and Bluetooth. The Audio with a 6 CD changer, Bluetooth, USB port, AUX and 9-speaker system delivers exceptional realism and heightens the driving experience with crisp notes of music.

Temperature can be maintained in the cabin with the 3-zone Independent Climate Control. The engine sounds as quiet as a baby from inside. There is absolutely no vibration inside the cabin. All features on the Prado Diesel are standard and it gets top-of-the-line safety features too like ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, seven SRS airbags, Whiplash Injury Headrests, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Down Hill Assist Control (DAC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Adaptive Traction Control (A-TRC) and Engine Immobiliser.
