Tata Safari is a beautiful off-roader, available as of now in seven colors, two of them in dual-tone. It is not only stance and colors that have made Safari what it is, the preferred choice, since 1998, when it comes to select a utility vehicle. Tata Safari’s comfortable driving, safe controls, and proven performance have simplified vehicle selection for those who look for reliable class.
What’s New in Safari?
The interiors have changed; dark graphite & beige dual tone theme bolstered by dark graphite & perforated tan leather upholstery all these trimmed in wood. The outer rear-view mirrors (OVRMs) and the full chrome grill reflect the persona, the OVRMs doing it quite literally. Redefined instrument cluster makes it easy for you to track how the Tata Safari is doing at any given point of time.
As is usual for Tata cars, Safari too has a leveraged personalization. LX, EX, GX and the VX, four variants in all have been loaded with different features and amenities to meet different budgets, and preferences. While all are 4x2 drives, Tata Safari VX BS4 alone is the choice if you want a 4x4 drive.
However, the power train is same for all. A 2.2 L DOHC VTT DiCor diesel engine pumps out 140 PS at 4000 rpm through 16 valves and develops a 320Nm torque between 1700-2700 rpm. Effortless switch through the gears is provided by the G-76-, 5/4.1 synchromesh-with-overdrive type gearbox.
Suspension is something not all non-professional drivers appreciate; it is after all hidden away underneath. The passengers of course, can always feel that special smoother rides, over quality suspension. Independent double wishbone with torsion bar front suspension working in tandem with a 5-link coil-spring-reinforced with a rear one cushions the Tata Safari passengers. Height-adjustable power steering is made-to-order for those longer drives.
Safe Safari:
Tata Safari is the only SUV in India that has 74/297/EEC certification; this is a European regulation related to protecting the driver and front passenger in case of frontal collision. There are also side impact bars protecting against sidewise collision. You can use different knobs and negotiate different conditions - 4H for the snow-covered roads and 4L for sandy surfaces. Safari’s dual airbags self-inflate within 40 milliseconds. For an unobstructed rear-view while reversing, there is a weatherproof camera in the luxury model. There are alerts if the doors are not closed fully or the seatbelts are not locked properly.
Tata Price, Warranty, and Mileage:
Earlier of 2 years or 75,000 KMs warranty, extendable for 2+1 years and lengthy 1,50,000 KMs is an attraction for Tata Safari owners. The authorized network, 600 now and counting spread over the length and breadth of the country ensures proper service; factory-trained technicians and genuine spare parts certainly go a long way keeping the Safari in top-trim. Tata Safari runs about 11 KM in the city and stretches up to 16 KM on the highways.
Because this off-roader is highly useful for fleet owners and excellent for staff-transport, there are certain privileged options for the corporate world; and Tata Safari would be customized where possible on bulk deals.
The Tata Safari VX BS4 all-wheel drive, the top of range, and loaded with all the features comes for about Rs12.85 Lakh and the most economical of the range, Safari DiCor LX BS3 is available for about Rs.7.85 Lakh. In between, you can choose the BS3 and BS4 variants.
Tata safari is one of the most popular, sturdy, safe, and eye-catching vehicle on India’s roads. If you still desire a test drive, get in touch with your Tata dealer right away.
