Tata Indigo XL

Tata Indigo XL, an updated version of Tata Indigo was launched as the first stretched long wheelbased limousine of India. Indigo XL rules as the longest car in India, endowed with classy exteriors and the most capacious, comfortable and refined interiors. The car, based on the Indica platform, has proved to be a boon for the taxi market and has tasted huge success in the segment in India. The Indigo XL ensures excellent comfort levels and offers good legroom. The seats of the car are on par with a business class seat in an aircraft, being a great combination of comfort, luxury, style and performance.

Tata Indigo XL Variants

Tata Indigo XL is available in four variants, the Grand Petrol and Classic Petrol, which are petrol versions and the Grand Dicor and Classic Dicor which are diesel versions. Tata Motors has currently introduced the classic variants into the market. The cars have been priced in the range of Rs5.49 to Rs 6.86 lakhs (Ex-showroom).

Tata Indigo XL Choice of Colours

Tata Indigo XL is available in Royal Burgundy, Ivory White, Carbon Black and Arctic Silver colour options in India. The interiors of the car are finished with a dual toned shade, combined with a wood finish on the steering wheels along with the instrument cluster.

Tata Indigo XL Powertrain and Performance

The Indigo XL offers a choice of petrol and diesel engines. The petrol model is powered by a very tough 1.4 litre MPFi DOHC engine which generates 101 PS @ 6100 rpm. Maximum torque of 124 Nm is generated at 3500 rpm. The diesel variant is powered by a 1.4 litre turbocharged Direct Engine Common Rail (DiCOR) engine which produces a power of 70 PS @4000 rpm. Maximum torque of 140 Nm is produced at 1,800 rpm.

The new Tata Indigo XL delivers a mileage of 15.9 km/litre on the highways and about 11 to 12.2 km/litre on the city roads, which is quite admirable compared to the other cars in its class.

Tata Indigo XL Exteriors

The new Tata Indigo XL has been designed to be a stretched version of the box Indigo sedan and shares the components and engine with the Tata Indica. The stylishly designed car has body colored door handles and front and rear bumpers paired with ball shaped front fog lamps and stylish grille which is coated with metallic strips.  The orange colored tail lights add to the beauty of the already elegant car while the functional trunk is big enough to be convenient. The multi facial reflector headlamps aid good visibility even in poor or dim lighted surroundings while the tinted window glasses shield the passengers from ultraviolet rays.

Tata Indigo XL Interiors

The new Tata Indigo XL has been admired for its beautiful interiors which give the comforts to match the seat of a business class air ticket, making it a grand success in the taxi segment. The car is very roomy and is nothing less than aristocratic.  The front seats are six-way powered with adjustable lower support while  the rear seats ensure maximum comfort levels. The rear seats have the facility to incline by 28.5 degrees, with the added luxury of cup holders in the center armrest. The XL grand variant features soft beige leather seats and beige Rexene door pads while the classic version features premium fabric seat upholstery and fabricated door pads.  Both the variants have wood finished instrument clusters and classy interiors, leaving the commuters awe struck. The Tata Indigo XL is equipped with a very powerful music system with six-speakers and DVD supported player with LCD monitor to enhance the experience. The car provides for a Bluetooth car phone and internet connectivity, helping the people to stay connected.

Tata Indigo XL Safety Features

Tata Indigo XL is equipped with disc brake in the front and drum brakes in the rear assisted by vacuum dual circuit. Indigo XL uses diagonal split hydraulic brakes through tendom master cylinder which acts on all the wheels to enhance the performance of the brakes and to perform in any tough situation.  The car seems to be customized for the Indian roads with the anti roll bar suspension system in both the front and rear ends which helps conquer uneven roads with ease. The car is equipped with central locking, which locks all the doors automatically within five mere seconds of crankling. Other safety features include audio warnings for driver seat belt and child safety locks for the rear doors amongst others.
