Tata Grande MK II billed as larger than life, is built to be the best SUV on road. ‘Size matters’ is another description of the Tata Grande; only when you look into the spacious almost room-like interior, would you appreciate what a liberation it is to travel with some room to spare.
Following are some of the features, including a clear price-advantage (starts from a little above Rs.7 Lakh,) that make Grande MK II, a choice better than most other comparable SUVs.
Model Grande:
Tata Grande MK II offers enough personalization; there are four variants, GX, EX, LX, and CX. The Grande GX leads the luxury table, though EX, LX, and the CX follow close behind with only a few tweaks less. The three rows of seating in all the models are front facing – no sidewise sitting compromises and you can change the configuration to seven or 8 seats as the need dictates. The 3rd row passengers have been taken special care of by this Tata. Grande MK II gives ample legroom, headroom and roof mounted AC louvers for individual cooling even at the rear.
Measuring 4421 mm in length, 1780 mm Width and 1940mm of height, the Mk II provides comfort to spare for all the 7/8 passengers and their luggage of course.
All the four Tata Grande MK II models are equally powerful and are equipped with 2.2 L 16 valve DOHC DICOR engines. The 2179 CC engines output 120 PS at 4000 rpm and generate 250Nm torque between 1500 and 3000 rpm. A combo of independent Wishbone suspension reinforced with coil Springs in the front, Parabolic Leaf Springs suspension at the rear, a 5-speed Synchromesh (with Overdrive) gearbox help you to drive this big SUV as easily as a small car. Incidentally, the turning radius of just 5.25 M helps in negotiating tight corners.
You can tilt the collapsible power steering and position it to suit driving and sitting styles. Potholes, speed humps, gravel tops or the sandy surfaces should not test the driver and passengers too much; since the big 235/70 R 16 tyres and 180mm ground clearance under the Tata’s Grande MK II.
Grande’s Own Safety:
Tata Grande MK II has too many safety features to list in one breath, yet the important ones include the robust braking system; Ventilated Disc Brake with Twin Pot Caliper at the front and auto adjusting type drum brakes at the rear pull the vehicle immediately under control if necessary. Tubeless tyres, apart from providing comfortable rides, lead to firmer road grip, efficient braking, and safety, should there be a puncture.
C & C structured chassis, side impact bars inside the doors, intelligent rotary anti-key trap locking that prevents doors from locking when the car is at halt, fog lamps, ‘door-open’ and ‘seat-belt not fastened’ alerts make Grande MK II safer than most other SUVs.
Tata Grande MK II Grande Interiors:
What but a fine sense of luxury can you expect in a vehicle of this class? Beige & Ebony black interior color scheme, velvet soft Upholstery, silvery inner door handles, all of this set off by faux Rose wood central console inside the Tata Grande MK II re-create a drawing room on the wheels. Front seats have a 3 Position lumbar support as also the facility to adjust instrument panel illumination.
Music department is taken care of by an Alpine music system with 6-speakers and iPod port.
Tata Grande MK II Efficiency and Warranty:
You can expect to drive 14km on the highway and 10km within the city in your Grande Mk II. Tata Motors offer a warranty of 3 years or 1,00,000 KMs.
Now, there is only one-way to drive your family around in comfort ; get inside a Tata Grande MK II.
