Porsche 911 Convertible

From the house of famous German car manufacturer Porsche, the 911 has arrived. With this, the entire range of Porsche cars is now available in India. The 2-seater 911 convertibles are known for their superb styling and outstanding performance. The 911s are also available in Coupe body style, but the convertibles are more popular.

The car has a sleek body with great aerodynamic design and the quality of the interior is top class. The convertible has exceptional handling, delivers superior performance and provides an exhilarating open air driving experience. The 911 convertible competes with the BMW M6 Convertible in the Indian market.

The 911 convertibles called '911 cabriolets' are available in five variants i.e. Carrera, Carrera S, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, and Turbo. The Carrera and Carrera 4 come equipped with a 3.6-litre 6-cylinder boxer engine (H6) that delivers 325 bhp of power. The higher 'S' variants come with larger 3.8-litre 6-cylinder boxers that generate 355 bhp and the 3.6-litre 6-cylinder boxer engine on the top-end 'Turbo' variant produces an immense 480 bhp. Transmission choices on the car are 6-speed manual and 5-speed Tiptronic S automatic. The Tiptronic S automatic gearbox is versatile and can be put into 'manual transmission' mode if required.

The engines on all 911 models are mounted to the rear of the car. The rear-mounted position of the engine ensures a low centre of gravity for the car and ensures optimum road traction.

Small buttons provided inside the cabin enable the driver to control the car's active damper system. Though the electronically controlled dampers, the ground clearance of the car can be adjusted to suit the type of ride. The car can be raised to stand a little higher while driving on bumpy roads.

The engines are enhanced by 'VarioCam Plus' valve timing technology that enables them to generate more power and deliver improved mileage. On the Turbo variant, the engine is clubbed with twin turbocharger units featuring Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG) for additional boost in power and thrust.

The Turbo is the quickest of the 911 convertibles. With the manual transmission, it makes 0-100 km/h in just 4 seconds. With the advanced Tiptronic S automatic transmission its 0.2 seconds quicker.

The exterior is superbly stylish. The car has a slim but bold body line and the headlights are very attractive. The Turbo model comes with the latest high-intensity bi-xenon headlamps. The car comes with 18" lightweight aluminum alloy wheels. The Turbo variant gets sportier 19" forged alloys.

The interior is unique and is made up of high-class materials. The seats are comfortable and perfectly formed to give good support. The seats come with fully electric adjustment for fore and aft positions, height, backrest angle, squab angle and lumbar support. The instrumentation cluster is the classic Porsche grouping of five round gauges. A premium Bose ® surround sound system is provided for on-board entertainment. The Turbo version features an additional sound programme that is specially developed for open-top driving. It is automatically enabled when the hood is opened and disabled when the hood is closed.

Safety features include Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB), Porsche Side Impact Protection (POSIP), advanced airbag system, and stability control system. The PCCB combines an ultra-robust ceramic disc with high-performance composite pads. A thorax airbag is located on the side of each backrest and side protection airbags are present within the doors.
