Audi, Porsche and Volkswagen group aimed at building a car which would perform well off road while having a sporty nature under its skin. The resultant car for the Volkswagen group was Touareg. This capacious wagon is bred to be driven on roads that have high gradients and high ramp angles. Although it has driving characteristics necessary for terrain and other tough conditions, Touareg is sculpted to look dignified. Volkswagen Touareg is available in seven different colours namely Deep Black, Night Blue Metallic, Cool Silver Metallic, Galapagos Anthracite Metallic, Graciosa Brown Metallic, Campanella White and Pure White.

The 3 Litre diesel engine of this off roader was modeled by Audi and it uses six cylinders arranged in V configuration to make a volume of 2967 cc. The engine is tuned for better power delivery and it does this in a great way by giving out 242 bhp in the range 3800 ? 4400 rpm. The torque available from the engine is 550 Nm when running in the range 1750 ? 2250 rpm. The engine makes use of turbocharged direct injection technique where fuel is injected at high pressure into the combustion chamber. This ensures better use of fuel and higher power delivery to the wheels of Volkswagen Touareg. The 8 speed automatic gear box coupled with the engine transfers complete energy from engine to wheels giving better performance and efficient fuel use.
