Tata Nano is the world's cheapest car designed with 'creative designing' and 'frugal engineering'. The car has caught the world's imaginations and narrated the powerful capabilities of Tata Motors to produce a brilliant car with the best of technologies at ultra-low price of Rs 1 Lakh.
Ratan Tata, chairman of the Tata Group, dreamt of producing an affordable 'people's car' for millions of Indians who commute in two-wheelers. The dream turned into a reality when Ratan Tata dazzled the world with the debut of the car at the 2008 Auto Expo in New Delhi.
The Tata Nano is now surprisingly the world's smallest four-seater minicar with simplistic design that delivers the freedom of individual mobility at a cost-effective price. The new small car is expected to create a new history in the journey of automotive discovery. The 2012 edition of the Tata Nano now gets more boost in the looks department and now the most frugal petrol car available in India.
The Fuel efficient Nano is now available in 8 variants- Base BSIII, CX BSIII, CX BSIII(Met), LX BSIII(Met), Base-BS IV, CX-BS IV, CX-BS IV(Met) and LX-BS IV(Met). The intelligently designed Nano is powered by an all-aluminium 624 cc, two-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 37.5 bhp, a slight boost in the power compared to the old Nano. The engine is positioned at the rear of the car and this is a key example of the Nano's ingenious frugal engineering.
The rear-mounted engine not only improves efficiency but also dramatically improves safety. The engine is also associated with an exclusive engine control management unit that monitors the working of the engine and boost performance. The electronic system is Bosch's new Value Motronic system that is aimed at providing maximum functionality at minimum cost. The system works in conjunction with the sensors, injectors, and other significant hardware. For the first time a two cylinder engine is used in a car with single balancer shaft.
The engine is further mated to a multi-point injection system and a 4-speed manual transmission. In addition, the McPherson strut suspension in the front and the rear independent coil spring helps improve handling and stability of the car. The Nano can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about 29.78 seconds with a maximum speed of 105 km/h.

The Tata Nano gets a new styling update keeping the essence of the old Nano. It is now aerodynamically designed with cost-effective yet beautiful exterior adornments. The clear-lens headlamps, clear-lens tail-lamp cluster, consistent body panel gaps, and large bumper make the tiny little car commanding on road. The structure is built in a way to minimize fuel consumption and improve mileage of the car.
The Tata Nano now features new premium interiors which speaks of class all along and the Tata Nano now gets a host of exciting and vibrant colours to differntiate from the older Nano.
In the interior, it is brilliantly packed with a host of functional car features. The sense of space, wide windscreen, and high seating arrangement has made the small Nano a pretty comfortable car for city driving. The dash of the car is simple yet elegant with one piece moulding housing the centrally positioned instrumentation. The central console is impressive and inspired by two-wheeler module. Ergonomically, the car is great with adjustable driver's seat and fixed passenger seats. The high-end version of the car is equipped with air-conditioner, power windows, central locking, alloy wheels, and provision for audio system.
The Tata Nano is fitted with a host of advanced safety features like intrusion-resistant doors, crumple zones, seat belts, strong seats and anchorages, and the rear tailgate glass bonded to the body.
