Skoda Laura is available with a choice of three revolutionary engines: 1.8 litre petrol engine, 2.0 litre diesel engine that churns out 110 bhp and 2.0 litre diesel engine that churns out 140 bhp.

The TSI engine is a combination of turbocharger, stratified direct fuel injection system and variable valve timing. The turbocharger in the system helps improve engine efficiency and reduce fuel consumption by supporting complete combustion of injected fuel. Variable valve timing technology helps improve engine efficiency by monitoring the opening and closing of valves in accordance with varying speed. The 1.8 litre TSi engine churns out the maximum power of 160 bhp @ 4500-6200 rpm with the maximum torque of 250 Nm @ 1500-4500 rpm. The engine is mated with 6-speed fully synchronized manual transmission. The 1.8-litre TSI is available in the Active and Ambition variants.

The 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine with self-aligning blades, in-line, liquid cooling system, high pressure direct injection system churns out 110 bhp @ 4200 rpm and the maximum torque is 250 Nm @ 1500-2500 rpm. The engine is mated with 5-speed fully synchronized manual transmission. This engine is available in the Ambition and Elegance variants.

The 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine with self-aligning blades, in-line, liquid cooling system, high pressure direct injection system churns out 140 bhp @ 4000 rpm and the maximum torque is 320 Nm @ 1750-2500 rpm. The engine is mated with Automatic 6-speed, DSG automatic transmission with Tiptronic manual gear changing. The Ambition, Elegance and Laurin and Klement variants are equipped with this engine.

The finely-tuned suspension system is specially designed for Indian road conditions with McPherson suspension with lower triangular links and torsion stabilizer in the front and Multi-element axle, with one longitudinal and three transverse links, with torsion stabilizer at the rear. Moreover, the rack and pinion steering with electro-mechanic power steering and disc brakes add to the performance and efficiency of the car.
