ICML RHINO RX CRD-Fi Car Review in India

International Cars and Motors Ltd. (ICML), based in Himachal Pradesh, is an emerging car manufacturer in India that entered the market with its first car Rhino RX for the MUV segment. The company belongs to the renowned tractor manufacturer Sonalika Group.

The Rhino Rx MUV bears a resemblance to the Toyota Qualis and fills the vacuum created by the discontinued Toyota model. Rigid boxy structure and spacious interiors are highlights of the Rhino. It was after the great success of the Rhino Rx - DI that ICML launched the new and upgraded version of the car named Delite with CRD-Fi technology.

The Rhino Rx is now available in both 8- and 9-seater options and is offered in 4 main variants, Winner, Xciter, Royale and Delite in refreshing and exciting colours, ICML Silver, Mica Wine Red, Green, White, Ice Blue Silver, Purple Silver, Forest Green Silver and Diamond White Shiny Silver. The colours add charm to the car's exterior looks and interiors which are at par with any luxury high-end car.

All the four main variants are available with the option of the latest 2.0 L TCIC Common Rail Direct Fuel Injection (CRD-Fi) system developed by Continental International having Unique Piezo Effect meeting both BS III and BS-IV emission norms.

The new-generation CRD-Fi engine powered with Advanced Piezo Technology has extremely short response time and minimum noise levels. The Rx Delite delivers 120 bhp at 4000 rpm and peak torque of 285 Nm at 1750-2500 rpm with best-in-class fuel efficiency. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and delivers a peak power of 100 bhp and torque of 220 Nm.

The MUV features independent double wishbone suspension to the front and a semi elliptical leaf spring to the rear to ensure a stable ride. Telescopic shock absorbers work to soften the ride. The front ventilated disc brakes and rear drum brakes are balanced with LCRV braking technology that adjusts braking pressure as per the load to provide ride stability. Handling is smooth and effortless as the power steering system is offered standard on all variants.

The Rhino RX comes with classic boxy exterior MUV styling. A small and simple chrome grille with golden ICML logo sits between the clear lens wraparound headlight clusters. The exterior look of each variant varies slightly from the other and one quick look at the bumpers gives away the exact variant. The top-end variants have been given bumpers that are enhanced with a dual tone look. The car comes with unique body graphics or decals. The Rhino Rx rides on 15-inch steel wheels and the high-end variants come with wheel caps.

The Rhino RX impresses with its bright and spacious new age interiors. The instrument panel has an eye-catching 3D day-night glow effect and is housed in a dual tone dashboard. The interiors of the car offer unmatched luxury and comfort. Seat options and upholsteries vary depending on the variants.

Entertainment is provided for on the higher variants of the Rhino. The Winner comes with a cassette player with speakers on the front door while other variants are available with a CD player with remote and speakers to the front as well as rear of the cabin. The Delite has also been provided with a DVD player with LCD monitor on roof. All variants are offered with air conditioning. While the Winner comes with single AC or no AC at all, the Xciter, Delite and Royale variants have been equipped with dual AC. Other notable comfort and convenience features are side steps to makes entry and exit easy and anti-glare inside rear view mirror.

The higher variants have been equipped with power steering and central locking. Safety features in the Rhino Rx include collapsible steering column, dual impact side beams, LCRV-balanced brakes, headlamp levelling device, child safety door locks, and rear high-mounted stop lamp.
