Maruti Suzuki, India's number one automobile manufacturer, had come up with its first car "Maruti 800" in 1983. Since then, the company has produced several cars. The Maruti Swift is one of the most popular premium hatchbacks in the Indian market which was rolled-out in the country in year 2005. With the launch of Swift hatchback, Maruti marked its debut in the premium hatchback segment. So far, the car has been receiving an overwhelming response from the Indian buyers and more than 5,00,000 units of this car have already been sold in the country. In 2011, Maruti Suzuki brought in the revamped and face-lifted model of the popular Swift and in the process phased out the production of the old Swift.

The New Maruti Suzuki Swift is equipped with a choice of two engines petrol and diesel. The advanced K-Series 1.2 L DOHC petrol engine churns out a maximum power of 83.8 bhp@6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 113 Nm@4500 rpm. The engine has 6 on-board computers that control everything precisely from fuel to ignition timing. The mileage is 17.94 kmpl.

The diesel engine is a 1.3 Diesel Direct Injection System (DDiS) which churns out a power of 73.9 bhp@4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 190 Nm@2000 rpm. This has bagged the international engine of the year. It also features a healthy combination of Turbocharger and intercooler and is highly fuel efficient due to the Double Over Head Camshaft (DOHC). It meets BS IV emission norms with improved mileage and superb performance. The diesel distributes through Common Rail Direct Injection. The mileage is 22.9 Kmpl (ARAI tested).

The Maruti Suzuki Swift is BS IV compliant and is available in the following variants LXI, VXI,  ZXI (Petrol) and LDI, VDI and ZDI (diesel). Maruti Swift is available in various colors eg. Metallic blazing red, Metallic torque blue, Metallic silky silver, Metallic pearl arctic white, Metallic glistening grey, Metallic midnight black.

Maruti Swift has a perfect blend of bold and stylish looks which forms a contour like none other. It has more fluid, more energy and more style. It has elegance with a sense of power. Maruti Swift is loaded with high quality material and upholstery for a premium fell, improved ergonomics, a layered structure for the dashboard and use of chrome and silver accents.

The interior looks rich and luxurious with the layered dashboard having waterfall centre console and the wrap around premium trims with sporty silver accents. The other features include bigger seats which provide more comfort. The multi-info LCD displays the fuel consumption meter, a low fuel warning lamp, a seven step illumination control, an odometer, trip meter, temperature and time. The tilt steering, lane change indication, car locator, smoother gear shifts, effortless maneuvering, increased leg room and foot space for rear passenger, additional bottle holders and cap holders. The cabin acoustic has improved which has reduced the noise, vibration and harshness. The new gen RBSS (Rally Based Suspension System) offers a swifter and precise handling.

Safety is considered as one of the important features in the automobile market as fuel economy and performance. Swift is equipped with many safety features such as superior dual SRS airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with motor speed regulation system for better control, Boost Assist System (BAS) braking which provides more efficiency and responsiveness in emergency situations, improved anti rust performance with coated steel to avoid corrosion and increased torsional rigidity which imparts enhanced stiffness for superior handling.

Maruti Suzuki Swift are priced from Rs. 4.2 – Rs. 5.5 Lakhs (Petrol version) and 5.2 to 6.4 lakhs (Diesel version)(all Ex-showroom Delhi price). The popularity of the vehicle is so that the Swift siblings command a waiting period of over 4 months.
