Mahindra Scorpio mHawk

Mahindra and Mahindra's Scorpio gets a new heart with new engine 'Eagle' but Mahindra preferred calling it as 'mHawk'. mHawk stands for all that a hawk depicts in terms of power, speed and performance. A one sentence description about it would be quite smooth polished drive and a comfortable mile-munching set of wheels.

It is available in two variants - VLX and VLS coupled with either a 5-Speed Manual or a 6- Speed Automatic transmission. The mHawk is powered by a 2.2 L and 4 cylinder diesel engine. It is equipped with a Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) that will help to reduce the lag promising better delivery of power & torque right. With the addition of a 6-speed automatic transmission, main rival Tata Safari will face tough competition.

The Scorpio V-series is technologically superior, refined and have more fuel efficient engine that clubs with innovative tech features offering the passengers with greater luxury drive.

Both the mHawk version -VLX and VLS gets 2L and 4 cylinder diesel engine, churning out 120 bhp and a flat torque of 290 Nm. This two-wheel drive is enhanced with a 5-speed manual transmission allowing the vehicle to go from 0 to 60 kmph in 5.7 seconds with greater agility. The 2179cc, V-Series engine features all-aluminium heads and a top mounted intercooler.

Each cylinder is quipped with 4 valves fuel spray design ensuring better fuel burns and generating more power from the same amount of fuel offering better fuel efficiency. It also comes with innovative 2 stage chain drive system and hydraulic lash adjuster that help in reducing the noise level of the engine drastically. The suspension cluster includes front independent coil springs and double wishbones and rear multi-link. Both front and rear of the car has anti-roll and to balance the reduced weight, the front suspension features new springs and dampers.

mHawk handling is perfect and protects from flipping over. The fully automatic transmission is enhanced with in-built intelligent driving modes that handle various driving styles in a simple way thereby offering total driving comfort. Another advantage of the Scorpio mHawk automatic transmission is that it is permanently sealed and does not require an oil change for a life time. This means reduced maintenance costs.

Tiltable/power steering wheel conveniently mounted with audio and cruise control allows you to switch radio stations or change the volume without taking your hands off the steering wheel or your eyes from the road.

There are many styling cues carried over from the previous models as there is not much difference in styling from the old Scorpio, except a sporty decal and alloy wheels that add extra zing to the vehicle. Body-coloured bumpers with air-dams and fog lamp give it a rugged front. Horizontally shaped grille is as same as the older Scorpio. It offers some new features that match the upper luxury segment car like Mercedes-Benz E class, the headlamps play an intelligent role by sensing changes in ambient light and automatically turning on or off. The wise windshield wipers also start as soon as they sense a certain amount of rain, the wiping frequency changes according to the intensity of rain, intellipark that helps you park your car with ease and tyre tronics.

This 8-seater is enhanced with high quality fabric and captain seats with integrated armrests for the middle row. Entertainment is loaded with Kenwood music system, CD/MP3 and also compatible with SD cards and USB drives and FM Tuner that add up a soothing music to your drive.

Safety is also taken care with ABS (anti-lock braking system) ensuring that the wheels don't lock up on you when you floor the brakes on any skid-prone surface & an Immobilizer, that will lock the engine and then cut off the fuel supply in case of any illegal entry.
