Mahindra Bolero Camper Review

Overview:
Mahindra Bolero Camper is the pick-up version of Mahindra's Bolero UV. It was designed keeping in mind customer needs and expectations in the pick-up category. The Camper caters to a growing segment of car buyers who are looking for a multi-utility personal pick-up.

Powered by a 2.5L turbocharged direct injection diesel engine, the Camper packs a decent power output and delivers a decent fuel economy of 12 km/l within city limits and 14 km/l on highways. It is available in both 2-wheel and 4-wheel driveline options.

The exterior and interior are well designed. The exterior comes with a stylish design similar to the Bolero and the interior carries a decent array of comfort and convenience features. The ergonomically designed seats are generously padded come with stylish new upholstery.


Powertrain and Performance:
The Bolero Camper is propelled by a 2.5L turbocharged direct injection diesel churning out 72 bhp of power and a peak torque of 176 Nm. The model is available in three variants - DX, DI and Huber.

The standard transmission on the Base variant is a 5-speed manual and that on the Camper DI and Huber is a 5-speed manual.

The Camper rides on an independent coil spring suspension to the front and a rigid leaf spring suspension to the rear. A low center of gravity adds stability to the UV's ride.


Build and Styling:
The styling of the Bolero Camper is comparable to that of the Bolero. The model comes with rugged looking body coloured bumpers and a huge waterfall grille with an elegant grille ornament. Goodyear wrangler radial tyres provide great traction. The doors are wide and come with ergonomic vertically placed black door handles that add to the boxy looks of the vehicle. Passenger doors are easily accessible and the cargo door ensures is built to enable easy loading of the spacious cargo box. Low placed side steps make vehicle entry and exit easy for passengers.

The interior of the Camper does not fall behind when compared to exterior styling. It sports a rack & pinion power steering (Camper DX only), a sleek instrument panel with large dials for good readability and well placed air vents. The six-seater comes with stylish fabric upholstery and a premium looking cabin bearing twin row seats. A powerful air conditioning system is available with the DX.

For safety, the Camper comes with powerful 9-inch hydraulic booster brakes that ensure efficient braking. High ground clearance of the vehicle ensures that the body is protected on rocky roads.
