Toyota Prius
Japanese car behemoth Toyota Motor Corporation has rolled out the Prius hybrid car in India. The Prius is the first mass-produced hybrid car of the world and the second hybrid car in India. The Prius is equipped with 3 modes of driving: power mode, eco mode and EV mode. The Prius has a 1.8-litre litre 2ZR-FXE petrol engine and a nickel-metal hydride (Ni MH) battery pack. The powerplant of this hybrid car features Electrically Controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The combined total power output of the fuel engine and the electric motor as a hybrid system is 134 bhp. The Prius can do a 0-100km dash in 9.2 seconds. The Prius comes loaded with safety features that include seven SRS airbags, front and rear crumple zones, Active Headrest, EPS-VSP (Electric Power Steering-Vehicle Stability Control), ABS, EBD and Traction Control system.
