The Swift Sedan called DZiRE replaced the popular Esteem in March, 2008. This compact sedan is duly inspired by the Swift hatch design. It is one of the Suzuki models designed exclusively by the Indian engineers. DZiRE was unveiled at the 9th Auto Expo in Delhi in Jan 2008. It is available in 6 variants with two engine options: a 1.3-litre G-Series petrol engine that delivers 87 bhp and a 1.3-litre multi-jet diesel engine that produces 75 bhp. All engines are coupled to a standard 5-speed manual transmission. It retains the 14-inch wheel size of the Swift hatch. The estimated fuel economy is expected to be 11/15 km/l (city/highway) for the petrol engine and 14/18 km/l (city/highway) for the diesel engine. The estimated starting price of the DZiRE is Rs 4.49 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
