One of the most-awaited small cars in India, the Hyundai Eon was unveiled in India in Oct 2011. The car is based on an all-new platform and features the Fluidic design philosophy of Hyundai Verna. The car, positioned below the Santro, is the least expensive hatchback from the Hyundai stable, priced in the range of Rs2.69 (for the base model, D-Lite) to Rs3.71 lakhs (for the top end model, Sportz). The car, to be launched in India in mid 2012, will be pitted against the Maruti Alto, Cherolet Spark and Tata Nano. Hyundai plans to manufacture the car in India and to export it to other countries. The LPG variant of the Eon is currently undergoing tests at the plant of the company near Chennai.

Hyundai Eon Engine and Mileage/Fuel Economy

Hyundai Eon is powered by an Epsilon 814 cc 3-cylinder petrol engine and has a fuel tank capacity of 32 litres. Eon delivers a maximum power of 56 bhp @ 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 76.5 Nm @4,000 rpm, which is quite impressive for a small car. The unique digital gear shift indicator helps the car to achieve an optimum gear usage and the best fuel efficiency. The Eon, as certified by the ARAI, gives out an amazing mileage of 21.1 kmpl on the highways and 15 kmpl on the city roads.

Hyundai Eon Exteriors:

Hyundai Eon is built on a fluidic design on the lines of the new Hyundai Verna. The car features a front grille with a chrome finish, giving it a rich feel. The car has crystal clear front fog lamps and unique tail lamps. The Eon has been designed with body coloured bumpers and door handles. The Eon is full of exciting curves and flowing lines, giving it a very interesting appearance unlike the other hatchbacks in its class. The base variant, D-Lite, features black outside rear-view mirrors and black coloured bumpers and door handles apart from driver side manually adjustable rear view mirror.

Hyundai Eon Interiors and Safety Features

Hyundai Eon has been designed with a spacious, stylish and rich finish.   The top variant, Sportz, features power steering and power windows which work at the touch of a button. Other features of the car include remote central locking and factory fitted music system with AUX-in, USB port and four speakers fitted in the doors. The front seats have integrated head rests. A large speedometer features in the instrument cluster, flanked by temperature gauge on the left side and a fuel gauge on the right side. The car comfortably accommodates four adults though the Boot space of the Eon has a capacity of only 215 litres. The safety features of the Eon include an ABS and EBD, making it not just inexpensive but safe too.
