Hyundai Accent
Hyundai Accent has been one of the most popular car models of Hyundai Motors India Ltd, the second largest manufacturer of cars in India. The car has been crafted to be a true luxury sedan, designed for impressive handling. The Accent contributes to a quite and comfortable riding experience and has been hailed as one of the most well rounded sedans available in India. The 2012 Accent, showcased in the New York Auto Show, is the refined and refreshed version of the popular saloon, with a sleek design and a glossy finish. The new car is more luxurious and comfortable, taking up the style quotient. It is to be seen if Hyundai brings the new version of the car into the Indian markets.

Hyundai Accent Models
Petrol Model: Hyundai Accent Executive, the petrol variant of Hyundai Accent is equipped with a 1.5 liter petrol engine with standard features.
LPG Model: Hyundai Accent LPG, the LPG model of Accent is powered by a 1.5 liter LPG engine.
Diesel Model: The Diesel version of the Accent is powered by a 1.4 llitre diesel engine
Hyundai Accent- Mileage/ Fuel Economy, Price and Power
Hyundai Accent, priced in the range of Rs. 5.9 to 6.30 lakhs, is powered by a 1.5 liter 1,495 cc, 4-cylinder, SOHC engine which produces 95 bhp at 5,500 rpm achieving a top speed of 181 kmph. Maximum torque of 12.7 kgm is generated at 3,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Suspension in the car comprises McPherson strut coil spring and stabilizer bar in the front and dual link with coil spring and anti roll bars in the rear portion. The sedan contributes to a fuel economy of 12 kmpl on the highways and 9 kmpl on the city roads.
The revamped Accent (2012) is powered by a 1.6 liter Gamma Four cylinder engine, which gives out 138 HP. The car gives out a mileage of 40 mpg on the highways and 30 mpg on the city roads. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission system.
The diesel variant of the Accent enjoys immense popularity in the Indian markets, thanks to its excellent fuel economy. Hyundai had trouble in handling the flow of orders which has caused a huge delay and a waiting period of 2-3 months and even going up to five months for the delivery of the same.
Hyundai Accent- Choice of Colours and Exterior
In the Indian markets, Hyundai Accent is available in a range of exciting colour options including Blue Onyx, Ebony Black, Midnight Grey, Potamaic Blue, Sky Blue, Real Earth, Husky Blue, Space Silver and Scarlet Sage.
Accent features big and clear headlamps, complemented by body coloured front bumpers and lower grille in the front and stylish tail lamps, body coloured bumpers and rear garnish, rear defogger and a distinctive stop lamp and compact trunk gate in the rear portion. The classy sedan features electronically powered front and rear windows and tinted glasses.
Hyundai Accent- Interiors
The interior of the New Accent is extremely pleasing on the eyes with its chic finish. The car features three-spoke tilt and power steering facility. The gear knob covered with leather and the wood finished panels at the door add to the classy appearance. The roomy interiors are found to be highly comfortable, with the capacity to accommodate four adults apart from the driver. The car has advanced AC Vents, roomy interiors and a glove box.
Hyundai Accent- Safety Features
Safety of the Accent has been beefed up with central door locking, child proof rear door locks, day and night, inside rear view mirror, key less entry, headlamp leveling device, high mount stop lamp and immobilizer. The Accent features standard front ventilated disc brakes and rear self adjusting drum brakes.

The owners of the CNG variant have highly appreciated the fuel economy, smooth driving experience and the feel of a big car. It has been noted that the CNG variant costs only Rs 1.15 per km, even with the A/C on. The Suspension has been found to be very good.
Conclusion: The 2012 Hyundai Accent has been rated as “Good” by the IIHS in the frontal offset test, as “Acceptable” in the side impact test and a “Good” in the roof strength test and in the rear crash protection (head restraint) test.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has rated the 2012 Hyundai Accent with a four stars rating, in terms of overall rating, frontal crash, side crash and rollover tests out of five stars.
