Reliance to open more AutoZone stores

30 April, 2008
Reliance is slowly venturing in to the automobile business too. Reliance AutoZone–used car store was launched in January in Jamnagar city, Gujarat.

According to one of the Reliance official “the company is planning to expand the used car stores in next three months and is looking at possible sites in Maharashtra and the NCR (national capital region).

The auto zone will also sell car accessories and parts besides used cars and provide repair and servicing facilities as well. The company’s list of vehicle makers includes Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Honda Siel Cars India Ltd., Hyundai Motor India Ltd., Ford India Pvt. Ltd. and Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. Reliance also plan to sell electric bike in the store.

This business model will set it apart from other competitors. According to the latest report from Maruti’s True Value and Honda’s Auto Terrace used-car divisions, in the last fiscal, the market for the used car was estimated to be about 10 per cent more than that of new cars.
