Maruti Suzuki Inaugurates New Engine Plant in Gurgaon

The Indian car leader Maruti Suzuki has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility for engine production in Gurgaon. The facility will be utilized for the production of 1,197cc K12M petrol engines. It is a four-cylinder engine that generates an output of 84 bhp and is the second aluminum engine which is being produced by Maruti Suzuki in India, the first one is the K10B engine fitted in the global car A-star.

Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming car Ritz which will hit the Indian car market by June this year will be equipped with the new engine.

According to Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi (Managing Director and Chief Executive of Maruti Suzuki), “The K12M engine is another example of Maruti Suzuki's commitment to take engine technology in India to the next level. The K12M engine further strengthens Maruti Suzuki's efforts for fuel efficient and green engine technology for Indian customers.”

He further added that the new engine complies with the Bharat Stage-IV emission standards which will be implemented in selected cities by mid-2010.
