Hyundai bags large export order

The very impressive i10 has been going places after its launch in October 2007. Hyundai has stated that it has bagged export order for 60,000 units. Hyundai has restricted manufacture of the cute hatch i10 to India alone. It is catering to its overseas markets from its Indian production facility.

Hyundai had started taking order from its overseas market since December 2007 and since then it has bagged order of 60,000 units. In the process it has also set a new record of clocking the fastest order of 50,000 units for exports in just three months.  These orders have been received from over 90 countries.

The company also plans to export at least 26,000 units by March 2008. The remaining number of cars will be fulfilled over the next few months. The i10 car is manufactured at its plant in Tamil Nadu.

The Hyundai i10 bagged several awards since its launch and is termed as one of the best in cars on road in India so far. It is currently on display at the Geneva Motor Show. Hyundai Motors India is currently marketing 34 passenger car models targeting for various consumer segments. A second production facility is coming up near Chennai in Tamil Nadu which is likely to manufacture the next step in i-series the i20 car. The plant has a capacity to manufacture 6 lakh units per annum. The company is also planning to expand its dealerships from the existing 230 to over 300 in the current fiscal year.

Training programme

In order to maintain high standards of customer satisfaction, Hyundai has planned to hold training programme for its staff of al its foreign distributors. The training programme will be held at its Tamil Nadu facilities.

The batch of 31 sales manages from 21 countries will participate in the training programme held for five days. The staff hail from Africa, Latin America, and Europe are Asia.

The training hopes to create familiarity of the i10 car and Hyundai Motors policies among the sales staff. This will help them establish the products in their countries more effectively.

“Infact the programme is the first of its kind in India where overseas staff are trained in India.” the statement said.
