Tata Motors to come up with the small car
Nano?
The Tata Motors has invested close to Rs 1,700 crores towards development and setting up the factory. The
small car priced at Rs 1 lakh is expected to be in market by October, 2008.
The auto maker is setting up a factory which can manufacture 250,000 units a year. The facility can be further expanded to manufacture 350,000, Mr Ravi Kant, Executive Director of Tata Motors said in an interview to a private television channel.
The base price of the Nano is put at Rs 1 lakh. The Tata Motors is also coming with deluxe trim of Nano that with upward price tag. The company is also mulling on handing over spare parts production to other companies, a decision regarding this will be taken at a later stage, the executive director said.
Besides the much hyped Nano car, the Tata Motors has also introduced new
Sumo Grande, new Indica. The Tata Motors has also announced the production of Xenon, a maxi cab version which will be assembled in Thailand starting in late 2008.
