Volkswagen Geared Up To Launch Caddy in India

21 October, 2008
There has been new car launches every now and then. Finally, Volkswagen is geared up to roll out its most well liked Caddy model into the Indian car market. This is mostly going to hit the taxi segment and it is proclaimed that Caddy will be the low-cost taxi for urban use.

According to Stefan Schaller, board spokesperson for VW’s commercial vehicles business, “India deserves a good taxi. We are at a very advanced stage in our talks with a JV partner for this business.”

Volkswagen senses that there is a rapid growth in tourism industry in India and many of them prefer to travel by taxis rather than self-driving. The car is proclaimed to be priced somewhere around Rs 8-9 lakh.

Many of the commuters feel that the fuel costs used for travelling to a particular destination is bound to be the same when compared to the fare of taxis.
