Volkswagen Up! will be priced at Rs 3 Lakh in India. This small car from the German car maker will be launched within 2011.

Currently, the Skoda Fabia is the lowest priced model from the Volkswagen Group in India which starts at Rs 6.3 lakh.

The Volkswagen Up! was revealed to the public for the first time at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. But the Up! had come to India during the 2008 Auto Expo. The Indian version of the VW Up! will be a normal front wheel drive and front-engined car.

The engine of the Up! would likely be a 1.1 litre 3 cylinder unit or a 1.2 litre unit. The car is a typical hatchback with 4 doors.

The VW Up! is expected to be launched in Europe next year and India would see a launch soon afterwards.

Volkswagen is planning to produce the car at its upcoming Pune plant.
