Marxist Bengal is now looking for another car manufacturer after Tata Motors pulled out its plant from Singur.

The state government is putting in the best of efforts to sell the establishment to another car major and finally they got the best deal. A Chinese car manufacturer, First Automobile Works (FAW), has eventually agreed to build its manufacturing unit in West Bengal in association with Ural India Ltd.

First Automobile Works is believed to be a renowned car manufacturer in China with its presence in 19 countries across the globe. In different countries the company has similar joint ventures with Toyota, Audi, Volkswagen, and Mazda.

A meeting was held between FAW, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, and Chairman of Ural India Ltd., J K Saraf. J K Saraf said that he had contacted FAW for this project and the company showed good interest in it. It is also known that FAW has nearly about 1.31 Lakh employees who together hold a capacity to produce 20 Lakh vehicles annually.

A government official later said that the company will tour few sites in the states but not Singur at this stage as the condition there is still volatile. He also claims that the government has Singur in their minds for this new project.

The state is now eyeing to the day when Tata Motors would completely dismantle the existing establishment and return the land to the state government.
