Nano May Run In Europe Soon
18 January, 2008
Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata has big plans for the Nano. After scoring a perfect 10 at the 9th Auto Expo, he is now planning to move to Europe. Ratan Tata has hinted that Nano could venture into Europe with its Italian partner Fiat Motors.
Tata Motors already have an agreement with Fiat for its India operations. Fiat will be launching seven cars in India over a period of two years. As many as five models including the Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, 500 (Cinquecento), Grande Punto, and Bravo will be introduced this year. The two companies are also a part of a joint venture to manufacture cars, trucks, engines, and transmissions.
Tata Motors will provide the Italian company with co-operation in marketing and also servicing these cars. The Nano, considered the world’s cheapest passenger car, will be making its appearance at the Geneva Motor Show scheduled in March, 2008. This event will be its first appearance overseas. Mr Ratan Tata has said that he would raise the matter with Fiat’s Chief Executive, Sergio Marchionne, about a partnership in marketing the Nano in Europe.
Fiat had earlier expressed its interest to co-ordinate with Tata Motors for its Europe venture over the two luxury British brands – Jaguar and Land Rover.
