Demand for
luxury cars in India is rising on a daily basis. The German luxury auto giants
DaimlerChrysler is setting a higher target for Indian sales than ever before. For 2008, DaimlerChrysler plans to sell 3000 units compared to the 2,491 units sold in 2007. This is a rise by 18%, of which the
Mercedes-Benz C-Class will be contributing the larger sale. The new Mercedes C-Class was recently unveiled at the 2008 Auto Expo and launched within a week after the Expo. This is the most popular and most affordable model in the Mercedes line-up in India. The new C-Class model has already sold over 211 units within a month.
The total sales figure for
Mercedes-Benz passenger cars for last year in January was 190 units and the company is expected to cross 315 units by mid-Feb this year. With the
Audi and
BMW paving their way strongly into the Indian car market, Mercs desire to remain at the top of the luxury segment in India strengthens.
The new C-Class starts with a price tag of Rs 25.79 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the petrol version and Rs 28.63 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the diesel version.
