The company sold only 180 cars in 2007. Commenting in the numbers he said “The capacity constraints had restricted our sales in India. We could have sold 250 cars of the necessary infrastructure has been set up already. However, to make up for the slowdown in 2007, we plan to sell 1000 cars from 2009 onwards.”
Mr. Tiers opened the company’s 5th showroom at Pune as part of its plans to open 10 dealerships in India by the year 2009.
The company will also open outlets in Mumbai, Chandigarh, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kochi and Kolkata by this year end. Five more dealers will be added to the list in 2009. Starting from April 1, Audi will also begin a roadside assistance programme.
Mr. Tiers said “The Company has entered into a partnership with a specialist company. We are partnering with a specialist company to pick up Audi cars from anywhere in the country and take it to the nearest dealer for servicing. If the car cannot be moved to the nearest dealer, a trained technician will be sent to the spot, where the car is stranded. We aim to offer the fastest and safest service for the car and out customers.”
