Twenty Four Per Cent Increase in Auto Sales for August

The Indian auto industry has marked an increase in sales for the month of August. The sales in this sector have seen an increase of over 24 per cent. The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), states that there has been a sale of over 10,08,702 units in the country in August against 8,11,341 units in the same month last year.

The passenger car sales in the country have shown an increase of 25.59 per cent and for the past seven months there has been a steady growth in this segment. In terms of number of cars sold, domestic passenger car sales increased to 1,20,669 from 96,082 units in the corresponding month a year ago.

"During the last few months, sales were consistently growing. Of course, in last month it was fueled by some stock build-up at the dealer level for the anticipated festive demand," said SIAM Senior Director Sugato Sen.

The festive season is soon approaching and during the festival season the sales is expected to further go high. On the whole the rest of the year appears to be a very robust season for the carmakers.
