The 2008
Auto Expo will display various attractive and unique cars.
Bajaj Auto will most probably showcase its small/ultra cheap car that may be priced at approximately Rs 1.2 Lakh. Bajaj unveiled its minicar dream on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, just a day before the Expo that tremors at the thought of
Tata’s One-Lakh Car. This launch strategy propelled
Bajaj-Renault-Nissan into the limelight hours before the Expo is to begin.
The
Bajaj Auto and Renault-Nissan alliance has realized their dream of an ultra cheap small car and the success of this relationship could extend to commercial vehicles as well.
Renault, currently, has a partnership with
Mahindra&Mahindra in India that launched the low-cost sedan
Logan in 2007.
M&M has no objections to Renault’s joint venture with
Nissan and the country's largest two wheeler maker, Bajaj Auto, as long as the partnership stays away from manufacturing cars in the segment that the
Logan comes under.
The much awaited
Tata minicar will be the highlight of the show and the car will ride on Indian roads by October this year. Bajaj may have taken away some of the attention from Tata’s
small car with its sudden announcement and unveiling of their own small car, but the Bajaj People’s Car will only be available in showrooms by 2010, which gives Tata a 2-year head start. Watch the drama unfold at the 2008 Delhi Auto Expo.
