German carmaker Volkswagen on Wednesday said it will introduce limited edition of two new variants of its compact car Polo and mid-sized sedan Vento as it looks to cash in on the festive season.

“From tomorrow we will introduce ‘Polo Breeze’ and ‘Vento Breeze’ in petrol variants, which will have special value additions worth up to Rs 40,000, but will be priced same as the existing models,” Member of board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales, India, Neeraj Garg said at the sidelines of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) Summit.

He said it will be a limited edition launch as done by the company earlier for Vento during the IPL season. At present, Polo is priced at Rs 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and Vento comes with a tag of Rs 6.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Commenting on the festive season, he said, the company by virtue of having fresh models like Jetta and Passat is expecting good sales number.

He, however, said in the first six days of the ongoing month, reports from Southern and Western India, where the festive season has already started, have not been as good as expected for the industry.

As for Volkswagen, it has sold about 54,000 units in the first eight months of this year, as against 32,500 sold in the whole of 2010.

“We are confident of maintaining this level of growth, although the overall market is slowing down,” Garg added.
