The luxury car manufacturer Volkswagen is on with its plans to launch the original 'people's car' Beetle in India by 2009 October. This launch will be then followed by another new model the Polo by early 2010.

Along with the new car launches in Indian car market, the company would also invest Rs 3,600 Crore in its Pune plant in the country for increasing the production capacity.

Mr. Ludwig Geerken, Volkswagen India-Project Head said “We will launch the Beetle by the end of October. We have no plans to alter our decision to invest Rs 3,600 Crore in India."

He further added "We will start making the Polo in our Pune plant by January and launch it by March next year. Production will start a little earlier so that we can keep enough inventories with our dealers."

The company has decided to start the production of the Polo at the Pune plant. The price and other details related to Polo are not revealed. The Beetle will be brought to India as a completely built unit (CBU).
