Volkswagen hold talks with Indian Auto Component Makers

Leading luxury car manufacturer Volkswagen is holding talks with Indian suppliers for the supply of auto components for its small car, schedule to hit the Indian roads by 2010. The company has also finalised some of the component makers in India.

Minda industry has confirmed that they have secured Rs 50 crore project from Volkswagen for the supply of lamps. Currently, Volkswagen manufactures 6 million vehicles globally and is expected to invest Rs 600 million in India for its expansion. The company aims to roll out six new models to India.

According to Surinder Kapur, Managing Director and CEO of Sona Koyo Steering Systems, “the company is in discussion with the Volkswagen for a series of models. Other European automobile companies are also talking to vendors for using the Indian supply base from where they are planning to launch similar models.
