Tata Motors Plans to Roll out Sumo-Safari Crossover in India

The Indian auto industry is expanding in a big way. Every car manufacturer is on the verge of rolling out new car models in the Indian market. Tata Motors, the Indian auto leader is also maintaining a list of models waiting for launch. Top of the list is the ultra-cheap car, Nano, scheduled to launch in October 2008. Recently, Tata has launched the new generation Indica Vista.

Now, on the cards is the Sumo-Safari crossover that was unveiled at Delhi Auto Expo 2006. This crossover model launch will be followed by another new car, the new generation of Indigo, built on the Indica platform. The company has already invested Rs. 1,700 crore on the new Indica platform and aims to sell 12,000 to 13,000 cars a month.

Currently, Tata is concentrating on aggressive expansion plans in India. The company is also working on to launch its premium brands Jaguar and Land Rover in India.
