The Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan is contemplating to shift its entire
small-car designing center to India from Japan to design the future small cars on its own in India.
After having invested Rs 6 - 7 thousand crore in Research and Development (R&D) centre in Indian, it seems that the Suzuki Motor Corporation now wants to build and design small cars in India to meet the growing demands for stylish, cute and powerful small cars in India.
As the Indian car buyers are opting for small cars than
luxury cars and sedans, most companies including Suzuki Motor Corporations are targeting India to cash in on the peoples’ craze for small cars with competitive price tags.
The Maruti Suzuki Indian Limited will be designing the
upcoming cars including small cars on its own. However, there is no time frame set for the new project and launching of its future small cars from this center.
The Suzuki Motor Corporation is already training a large number of Indian car designers at its facility in Japan. The designers and engineers will be eventually deployed in India.
Apart from designing
latest cars and new cars, the Maruti Suzuki is also doubling its engine production capacity in India. The MSIL has plans to produce about 1,000 engine units at its Indian plant by 2010.
According to a MSIL executive, the company will be in a position to roll out all made in India models in next 3 - 4 years. The new cars which will be completely designed in India at its new designing center will run on Indian built engines. No doubt, they will completely be manufactured and assembled in India.
