After showcasing two brilliant concepts in the 2009 and 2012 Geneva Motor Shows, the luxury car wing of the Japanese automobile manufacturer, Infiniti is working on a production version of a hybrid sports car which might come out on roads by 2016. The company is working on the technologies adopted in Essence and Emerg-e concepts to build this new automobile which will be a flagship model for the luxury brand.
The car may impress the younger working generation and the model will be targeted primarily at Asian markets. Andy Palmer from Infiniti has confirmed that the powertrain used in Nissan GT-R will not be used in this upcoming automobile. In a report he stated that, “Our target customers are not people who compromise so we need to ensure we deliver the best of everything.”
Both Essence and Emerg-e are hybrid models which, along with motors, have 3.7L V6 engine and 1.2L petrol engine respectively. The combined power from motor and engine comes up to 590 bhp in Essence concept while the maximum rated power for Emerg-e is 402 bhp.
