The Audi A6 is available in a choice of four engines comprising 3.0-litre TFSI, 2.8-litre FSI, 3.0-litre TDI, and 2.7-litre TDI. Three of the four engines are the same as the existing Audi A6 model but the 3.2-litre FSI is replaced by the high performance 3.0-litre TFSI engine that provides a combination of dynamic performance and low fuel consumption.

The 3.0-litre TDI produces 229 bhp, 2.8-litre V6 petrol engine generates 207 bhp, 2.7-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine churns out 177 bhp, and the advanced supercharged 3.0-litre FSI engine generates an awesome power output of 296 bhp. The supercharger used in the high performance engine is a Roots-style unit with twin four-vane rotors positioned entirely between the cylinder banks.

TFSI is a turbocharged fuel stratified injection engine is the latest advancement in engine technology. It uses a high pressure direct injection pump that ensures injection of fuel directly into the combustion chamber through electronically controlled injection valves. This innovation in engine technology is aimed at allowing higher compression ratios and more efficient fuel intake. This in turn helps deliver high performance and low fuel consumption.

The Audi A6 like the old A6 is fitted with an efficient six-speed automatic transmission. It also comprises the Quattro four-wheel drive that ensures improved traction and dynamic driving style by variably distributing the drive forces to both front and rear wheels through mechanical center differential.
