Honda Accord-World's Most Loved Saloon Continues To Impress

The second best-selling sedan of the US, the Honda Accord, has been accorded with a facelift. The all new 2012 sedan is at its charming best with its usual comfort, spacious and luxurious interiors and good handling, making it one of the best family sedans with a host of optional features. Pitted against the likes of the Hyundai Sonata, Toyota Camry, Malibu and Ford Fusion, Accord is a robust contender to rule as the best-in-its-class sedan. The 2012 Accord is priced at Rs20.28 to Rs27.37 lakhs.

Whats New?

The 2012 Honda Accord features tweaked exteriors with fresh new leather and wood finished interiors. The sedan also has improved dash integrated music system, outside rear view mirrors with turn indicators with the sunroof coming as standard in all the models. The safety of the sedan has also been enhanced.

 Powertrain and Performance

The 2012 Accord is fired by the same petrol engine as that in its 2010 model. The 2,354cc i-VTEC engine churns up a maximum power of 180 bhp@6,500 rpm. Maximum torque of 222 Nm is generated at 6,500 rpm. The V6 variant is powered by a 6-cylinder 3,471cc petrol engine which can generate 275 bhp @ 6,200 rpm along with a torque of 339 Nm @ 5,000 rpm. The sedan provides an option for either manual or automatic transmission.

Honda has enhanced the ride quality of the new car with softer tuning while retaining its sporty feel.  Equipped with four-wheel independent suspension with a double wishbone design in the front and a new multilink setup in the rear, the Accord glides smoothly even on rugged terrain. The V6 version is endowed with larger wheels and tyres with light and direct steering, giving a firmer ride. The car is amazingly manageable, providing comfortable handling at any speed.

Exteriors and Interiors:

Honda Accord features an all new front grille and new bumpers in both the front and rear. The sedan is more spacious and features a wooden finished centre console with dash integrated music system with an automatic climate control system. The four-door car comes with bigger dials, gauges and a navigation screen enhancing the clarity. The new Accord has deeper and wider seats, giving more leg room to the rear seats while the soft cushions and backrest features ensure utmost luxury. The new car also provides extra space for stowage. Luxury features of the car include an air conditioner, cruise control, and an XM Satellite Radio amongst others.

Safety Features:

The new Accord has been fortified with six airbags, including side-impact airbags for the front seats and side curtain airbags. The new Vehicle Stability Assist with Electronic Stability System and active front head restraints come as standard. The Advanced Compatibility Engineering body technology ensures maximum protection in the event of a collision.
