The Ford F Series has been
Ford Motor Company's biggest success ever. It has been the largest selling vehicle in the United States for 23 years. It is now in its eleventh generation. The vehicle has sold more than 29 million units in the last 50 years of being around. This pick-up was rolled out in 1948.
3. Volkswagen Golf

Since, its inception in 1974, the
Volkswagen Golf is the world's third best selling car ever. This bestseller has undergone five revisions and facelifts and has managed to outsell its more famous sibling, the Volkswagen Beetle. The Volkswagen Golf has sold more than 25 million units till date.
4. Volkswagen Beetle

The iconic
Volkswagen Beetle, which revolutionized the world with its birth in 1945, has a record of selling more than 21.5 million units till 2003. The original 'bug', the Volkswagen Beetle, is one of the most successful models that Volkswagen has produced. When the car was launched, critics had predicted a complete failure for Beetle because of its peculiar styling, underpowered motor, rough ride, and high noise levels initially compared to modern vehicles, but the car proved the critics wrong and went on to make history. 5. Ford Escort

The
Ford Escort began as a family car in 1967 and by the end of 1968, the car was already one of the best selling cars in the United States and the United Kingdom. From 1967 to 2003, the Ford Escort sold over 20 million units globally. Ford continued to expand the Escort range with the introduction of a four-door sedan, estates and vans. The 1981 version of the Ford Escort is called the World Car by Ford. Ford also had made its entry to Indian shores with this model but couldn't win the appreciation of the people of India as the car itself was much more advanced to its age and carried a hefty price tag. Production of this car stopped in 2003.
6. Honda Civic

The
Honda Civic has sold over 16.5 million units till date. The first generation Honda Civic arrived in July 1972 as a shortbacked 2-door, followed by a 3-door hatchback in November 1972. The Civic has gone through seven more revisions since then and has turned out to be a huge hit amongst car lovers.
7. Ford Model T

The
Ford Model T is a 100 years old car and in fact world's first mass produced car. This iconic car is the car that put the world on wheels. The car was launched on October 1. It was the first low-priced automobile with standard, interchangeable parts. It had a 20-horsepower, four-cylinder engine with a top speed of about 72 km/h. The Ford Model T or the "Tin Lizzy" as it was famously called was named 'Car of the Century' on December 18, 1999. The car sold 16.5 million units from 1908 to 1927.

Also known as the Sentra, Tsuru and Pulsar, the Nissan Sunny was a bestseller from the Japanese car maker Nissan and still continues to be available as the Sentra. The car made its debut in 1966 as the
Datsun 1000 and soon became a major rage around the globe. The car has sold more than 16 million units having gone through 10 renovations since its debut.
9. Volkswagen Passat

The
Volkswagen Passat has sold over 15 million units since its inception in 1973. The Volkswagen Passat is a family car and at present and is in its sixth generation design. The 140 bhp 2.0-litre diesel motor mated to the state-of-the-art DSG gearbox means this is a fantastic car to drive as well. Europe's largest car maker Volkswagen has brought in the Passat to India.

The
Lada Riva was a very unlikely bestseller. It has attained almost cult status and is a very a popular car in Russia and Egypt. In 1966, an agreement between Fiat and the Soviet government was signed to set up a car factory near Moscow. The car to be manufactured here was named the Lada. The Lada 1200 saloon was first seen in Britain at the 1973 Motor Show and stunned Europe with its low price. For the record, the car has sold over 13.5 million units till date, although its exports to Europe were stopped in 1997. The Lada Riva was sold as the
118 NE in India and was marketed by Premier Automobiles Limited.
