Weaving History
Sakichi Toyoda, father of Kiichiro, revolutionized the textile industry in the country by introducing Japan’s first power loom and then the Toyoda Spinning and Weaving Company in 1918. Later, in 1924, both the father and the son together founded the automotive loom which was further given a name, Toyota Motor Corporation, by Kiichiro in 1937. Progressively, the company spread its tentacles across the global
car industry.
Toyota in India
In India, the Toyota made its debut in 1997 and was named Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. The first car launched in India was the Toyota Quails in the year 2000 and further to that the company rolled out the Toyota Camry in 2002, the Toyota Corolla in 2003, and the Toyota Innova in 2005. Since the first launch of its entire car range, the company has also introduced various versions and variants of all its car models.
Recently, the Toyota has introduced the tenth generation Corolla, christened as,
Toyota Corolla Altis, in India. It has also launched a facelift version of the Toyota Innova and Toyota Camry. The Indian car market has also witnessed a joyful time with the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado launched in the late 2004. Toyota crept into the burgeoning Indian
SUV market with its Land Cruiser Prado SUV adorned with futuristic features and advanced safety technologies.
