Hyundai Motors has made a safe ride on Indian roads. Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company, South Korea and is the second largest and the fastest growing car manufacturer in India. HMIL operates as a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Co. It offers authorized service centre and emergency road services in India. Now Hyundai enjoys its 10 glorious years in India. And will continue to cherish with its cute and quality cars forever.

Hyundai vehicles are being sold in 193 countries and have 5000 dealerships and showrooms worldwide. They company is also planning to increase their dealership network and their after sales service. HMIL is geared up to expand its dealer network, from 230 to 300 this year. The car manufacturer has also employed over 68,000 people around the globe. Hyundai is the most honored group of car manufacturers in India to have such excellent technological knowledge. The main aim of Hyundai is to make India a global hub for export of cars. It strongly believes in India’s potential for its products and gives India credit for its achievement in the Indian market.

Currently the car manufacturer markets 30 variants of passenger cars across segments. Hyundai Indian stable comprises of hatchbacks like Santro, Getz Prime and the i10.  Sedans like Accent and the Verna, Sonata Embera and last but not the least Tucson from the SUV segment are doing well in the Indian car market.

Hyundai, leading car exporter has made remarkable sales of 327,160 vehicles in the calendar year 2007. The company registered a growth of 7.6% domestically as compared to 2006 with 200,412 units, while global sales increased by 11.8% with exports of 126,748 units.

The Chennai plant delivers the most advanced production, quality and testing capabilities in the country. In addition to this plant, HMIL has also set up another plant with the production capacity of 300,000 units per annum.


The year 2007 has been a great year for Hyundai Motor India. It has exported around 4,00,000 cars. It is not only exporting over 90 countries but is also venturing into newer markets.

Hyundai’s all-new compact model i10 which made its global debut in 2007 made a clean sweep of all the ‘Car of the Year 2008’ awards from the leading automotive magazines and TV channels like BS Motoring, CNBC-TV18 Autocar, NDTV Profit Car & Bike India and Overdrive magazine. The launch of i10 has been a noteworthy achievement by Hyundai in India.

The i10 is also the choice of the insightful automotive media of the country as they conferred the esteemed ‘Indian Car of the Year’ award to the i10. The i10 has received these awards based on excellent built quality, handling, driver comfort, safety and ride quality.

Other Hyundai cars like Santro and the Accent also received the ‘TNS Voice of the Customer - 2008’ award for the Premium Compact Car (Santro) and the Entry Mid size Car (Accent).

In the year 2007, Hyundai Verna was awarded with the title of "Car of the Year 2007". Even Sonata Embera from the luxury car segment also won the 'Executive Car of The Year 2006' award from Business Standard Motoring Magazine and NDTV Profit Car & Bike declared the Tucson as the 'SUV of The Year 2006'. Therefore, Hyundai has won the awards for almost all its models in India. This definitely proves how well the car manufacturer has made a significant pace in the Indian car industry.
