Car sales are booming and so is the in-car entertainment system. Think of it and you will automatically arrive at the conclusion that it is car audio system. The performance of a car audio is very different from a domestic audio system. Actually it is not like we fit in some speaker and a music player and listen to it. A car audio system functions differently. Since the audio is played when the car is in motion, it is important that the sound is not distorted.

This device supplements the regular power supply of the car to ensure uninterrupted functioning of the amplifier.
Speaker
You have innumerable brands of car speaker in the market. They are the basic equipment in the car audio system. Most cars come equipped with four speakers. But those who wish for more can get it customized according to their preference of size, brand and power.
Subwoofer
A subwoofer is a speaker that is designed to re-produce sounds of very low frequencies like bass frequency. This device helps enhance the quality of sound with low frequency at high levels. Some of the famous sub-woofer manufacturers are Rockford and Alpine.
Tweeters
Now don’t confuse it with the cute cartoon character tweety. The device produces high frequencies of 3000 Hz and above but requires the least amount of power. It produced the highest sound frequencies.
CD/MP3 and DVD disc changers
Many luxury cars come with the option of 6-disc CD changer. They can play a audio/video CD, DVDs and MP3s. They can store digital quality sound and re-produce them providing enhanced entertainment. Mercedes Benz cars have programmable track memory and handsfree Bluetooth fixed to it.
The latest MP3 stereos come equipped with technologies like SD, USB and iPod connectivity. They can be attached to the LCD monitors to view videos. Radio too has evolved into FM radio to Satellite Radio channels. So far the only satellite channel in India is Worldspace.
Enhancement of car entertainment requires a lot of research today due to the availability of high quality car accessories.
