Talking about the career opportunities in car designing, Mr. Chabbria said “As the per capita income of people rise, so will their disposable income. Global auto majors are looking at these opportunities to expand their operation in India and China. Obviously the demand for designers will rise with their operations.” Industry experts project the growth of Indian automobile industry to a size of $ 150 billion over the next seven years. Currently, the automobile sector worth Rs $35 billion, and the estimated growth is stupendous. In this process as many as 25 million jobs are likely to be created. So, car designers will become an essential part of the car companies in future.
As of now the combined force of all institutes generate only about 300 auto designers. This has created paucity of designers. The cost of designing courses start from Rs 1.25 lakh per annum in other institutes, but in Dilip Chabbria’s Institute it will cost from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 4 lakh a year. In order to cater to the growing demand of car designers, Mr. Chaabbria has planned to induct 1500 students into these courses.
