Reselling a car is one of the most strenuous jobs, before you go for the fresh new car. Many of them sell off the old car at whatever price you get. But there are those who do lots of research and try to get the best price.
But try giving a facelift to your car and see that it will get you more than you hoped for. One has to know what kind of modification will actually fetch the money you want. It is something that no mechanic, technician or service outlet will tell you. But most car re-sellers can help you with this, is that sprucing up car will get you good money.
The one way to attract more attention is jazzing it up with accessories. But not all accessories fetch you the money you want. This is because depreciation is a major factor that decides the price.
If you decide to dress up your vehicle it is better to consider safety and practical aspects along with economic considerations. Getting it fitted with airbags, antilock braking system, cruise control will catapult the prices. But fine upholstery and tinted glass may not fetch you anything more.
However, a car seller needs to understand as to which car accessories will spruce up costs. Four wheel drive (4WD) – This feature is available only in SUVs and trucks as a safety device. The feature increase maneuverability of the vehicle.
Traction Control – This feature make use of sensor to determine if a wheel is slipping and automatically reduces engine speed. It also monitors the brakes to maintain optimum traction. This safety device is new in the market and is very expensive. It is fitted in high end cars like Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi.
Air conditioners and climate controls– Most cars in India are fitted with ACs. Hot and humid climate in India makes it the most sought for this feature. Air-conditioners are also subject to depreciation, but high end brands fetch a good bargain. A car without AC will automatically be cheaper by Rs 30,000.
Stereo sound system – There are several options in this feature that include the top end MP3 player, iPod, LCD monitor, DVD player, 6-disc changers, premium sound systems and others.
Automatic transmission – Automatic Transmission is getting popular in small cars lately. The transmission comes with sophisticated gear boxes also. It is fast replacing manual gear shifts in cars though it is available as an option. It is installed in all cars starting from the range of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Santro and others.
Apart from air-conditioners, most of the features are expensive and require investment. It is best if you had it installed and used them for few years before selling the car. The options are exhaustive and can start anywhere from Rs 5000 to few lakhs. Styling of cars and installing accessories is fast catching up with car owners. Some of these features can be decisive in giving your car an edge over others.
