Follow car wash religiously and see it shine

Keeping a car in top shape and look is tough for Indian car owner. The amount of dust and grime that settles on the car can even make a brand new car look older. However, once cleaned and waxed these cars gleam in sunlight and make others turn head when you drive on your city roads.

A good cleaning can make the car look like brand new. It is a regular and tedious process, but once completed will make you feel proud to own the car. Washing a car forms the most basic part of its maintenance.

Below are some washing tips for those who are doing the job for the first time:
Keep the car in shade and allow it to cool down. Detergents can dull the paint colour of car if the body sheet is hot. Wash the car with the shampoo or washing powder.

Rinse the car with water so that the hard grime is loosened or dissolved. Wash it with good quality car wash dissolved in water. Dip a cotton cloth in this solution and use it to clean dust from paint. It is best to use separate cloth or sponges for car surface and tyres.

Rinse with clean water again. Use a water hose to rinse the car till hidden grime in grille, bumpers and mudguards is dissolved. If you are using water stored in a bucket, do not pour the muddy water on to the car. Some hard particles could cause scratches on windshield and paint.

It is best to hand polish the car once it is dried with a dry cotton cloth. Apply wax on paint after you have finished polishing. Your car will gleam like a new one. Polishing gives life to car paint work. Wax seals the polished finish of the paint work and gives shine to the paint. Polishing and waxing can be done once in three months. If it is a new car, cleaning with water is all that is required.

A good wash with water will make tyres dust free and make them look as brand new.

Initially, car wash will require several hours of dedicated work. However, once cleaned it is only maintenance that matters. You may require just about half an hour of work every weekend to make the car ready for the week. Read owners manual for instruction from car manufacturer and follow them.
