In India HMIL presents 36 variants of passenger cars across 7 models. To start with is the Hyundai's flagship model Santro from the B segment, the Getz Prime and i10 in the B+ segment, the Accent and Verna in the C segment, the Sonata Embera from E segment and the Tucson in the SUV segment.
Hyundai sales Growth in India
The company continues the tradition of being the fastest growing passenger car manufacturer with its growing popularity among the Indian consumers. The car brand recorded overall sales of 327,160 vehicles in the year 2007, which is an increase of 9.2 percent compared to 2006. Hyundai’s domestic sales growth was 7.6 percent as compared to 2006 with 200,412 units, where as the overseas sales rose by 11.8 percent with exports of 126,748 units.
Hyundai and i-series
In 2007, Hyundai introduced the first i-series model called i-10 and it turned to be a great success for the company. In a very short period, this compact car won many accolades. Next in the line is i20 which has recently rolled out for cruising to European car market.
Hyundai Exports
The company has a whopping export demand and to meet up the requirement it has doubled its production capacity from 300,000 units to 600,000 units per annum by setting up another facility in Chennai this year. Hyundai has spread its wings wider and presently exports to countries like Latin America, Middle East, European Union, Africa and the neighboring countries of the Indian sub continent. HMIL further aims to become the largest passenger car exporter with the target of exporting more than 2 Lakh vehicles from India. In the year 2008, the company achieved another milestone by rolling out the fastest 500,000th export car.
Hyundai Care
Hyundai Motor India has always pampered its customer's sentiments and desires by delivering the best in terms of warranty and affordable prices along with a huge sales and service support network. Recently the company rolled out its 20th Lakh car and as a mark of celebration and good will, the 20th lakh car was donated to CRY (Child Rights and You) through the popular Bollywood actor and Hyundai’s brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan.
Awards and Recognition
Hyundai stood ahead in every award ceremony taking home several applauses and rewards.
Hyundai i10 is the first car to win the ‘Car of the Year' award four times in a single year. It was also honored as the ‘Indian Car of the Year’ (ICOTY). The company exported 500,000 cars and was credited with the first Indian passenger car manufacturer to achieve this amazing milestone.
In the year 2007, Hyundai Verna was accoladed with the most prestigious awards starting with the title of ‘Car of the Year 2007’, the ‘Best Mid-size Car of the Year’, ‘Best Value for Money Car’ and ‘Performance Car of the Year 2007’ from Business Standard Motoring.
The Sonata Embera won ‘Executive Car of The Year 2006’ award from Business Standard Motoring Magazine and NDTV Profit and in the same year Tucson was titled as the SUV of The Year 2006.
