Ferrari 250 GTO
The 250 GTO is the best sports car that has been ever manufactured and is also the best car from the
Ferrari stable till date. The name of the car, GTO stands for Gran Turismo Omologata and 250 denotes the displacement of each of the cylinders. The 250 GTO was launched in 1962 and was produced for two full years until the production of the car was stopped in 1964 therefore producing just 36 units of the GTO. This beauty had a compact berlinetta design that was designed by Giotto Bizzarrini and his team. The car was created based on the chassis of a previous model 250 GT. The GTO had a V12 engine, each cylinder displacing 250 cubic centimeters and had a total displacement of 3 liters. The car produced 302 bhp and would accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 6.1seconds, a feat by itself for a car produced during the early 60s.
AC Cobra 427
It was racing driver Carroll Shelby's request, which made the British manufacturer AC Cars produce the AC Cobra. He had requested them to manufacture a car with a V8 engine and light chassis. And it was Shelby who suggested the name of the car as Cobra. The makers of the car sourced the parts bin from various other cars suach as Ford- based engine, Jaguar's in-board disk brakes, and a VW Beetle's steering rack. AC Cobra was manufactured in the 1960s, with a 7-litre engine that churned out 425bhp and blazed the tracks in just 4.2 seconds to reach 0-100 km/h.
Porsche Carrera GT

Carrera GT is among the most aggressive Porsche's ever built. The company started developing the car in late 90s, but it was launched only in 2004. Only 1270 Carrera's were sold. The interiors of the Carrera GT were made of carbon, magnesium and leather materials and were available in five colours initially. The Carrera GT had 10 cylinders in a V formation and a displacement of 5.7 liters, capable of producing over 600 bhp. The car is supposed to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds.

This Corvette is the third generation car from the Corvette family that was produced by
Chevrolet and it marked the realm of sports cars forever as the most powerful street legal car produced by GM (Still is). This aggressive car was designed by Larry Shinoda. The design secret of the Corvette was revealed before the car was launched by Mattel, a toy manufacturer, on its line of miniature cars. The car was powered by a 7-litre engine and produced 460 bhp. But third parties that tested the car found that it produced 560 bhp.

The Bugatti is the fastest accelerating street legal car. It was formerly a concept car. And it was Jozef Kaban from Volkswagen who designed the car. The
Bugatti Veyron has a 16 cylinders engine with a displacement of 8-liters. The car also has in its name the world acceleration record of going from 0-100 km/h in 2.46 seconds. And the car had a top speed of 407.5 km per hour. Ah! A trivia fact, a full tank runs dry in about 10 minutes in this car.

Dodge Viper gained its popularity mainly through the many movies and television shows in which it appeared. The inspiration behind the introduction of a powerfully built and insistent looking sports car in American is Shelby Cobra. The two white stripes are a trademark of the car. It has an 8.4-litre V10 engine and has a 6-speed manual transmission. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds and has a top speed of 306 km per hour.
Lamborghini Diablo
Diablo means “Devil” in Spanish, and the car stands true for its name. This hellish beast was introduced in 1990 by the Italian manufacturer
Lamborghini and became famous all around the world. Just like the Ferrari F40, the initial versions of the Diablo were pretty spartan and focused on performance alone. Late in the 1990s, however, the car gained some softer lines and better interiors. Enzo Ferrari was 90 years old when he decided to produce the F40. Ferrari was losing its edge on the sports car industry (mainly to Porsche) at the time, so the man decided to create a new project to show the world what they were capable of doing. The F40 was built to perform and so its design is rustic. It had panels made of kevlar, carbon fiber and aluminum for strength and low weight. Its accented lines and the legendary rear spoiler immortalized the car. Despite being produced in the early 1990s, the F40 is still one of the fastest street legal cars in the world. It goes from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, and has a top speed of 324 km/h. Sure enough, Ferrari F40 did prove the old man right.
Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren
SLR, which cost about $ 500,000, is the fastest automatic transmission car in the world. It was produced by a joint venture between
Mercedes-Benz and McLaren Automotive. The design of the car is one of the most futuristic designs in the industry as the car comes with full carbon-fiber monocoque, crash structures and body panels. This Merc features a 5.4-litre, supercharged, SOHC V8 engine that produces a whopping 616 bhp (You just read that right), with an acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 3.1 seconds. This car also features the so called “butterfly doors” making it look even more sexy.
Jaguar E-type Series 1
The
Jaguar E-type revolutionized the sports car industry as it was for the first time that a top performing car could be acquired for a reasonable amount of money. Just consider that between 1961 and 1975 it sold more than 70,000 units. The car originally featured only two seats, flat floors and external hood latches. It also included several innovations, including the placement of the lights and the style of the frontal opening. The Series 1 came with two engines, one with 3.8 liters and one with 4.2 liters. The latter could accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.1 seconds with a top speed was 215 km/h.
