bullet Porsche 911

Porsche 911Yes, it is the Porsche 911 which leads the pack. This car is the oldest living example of the air (now liquid) cooled longitudinally mounted rear engine technology pioneered by Ferdinand Porsche. Though Physics always maintained that plunking an engine in the rear of the car is the worst place to put it as it causes the car to violently oversteer into corners and makes stability an issue, the engineers in Porsche beg to differ as the car is being progressively tweaked and tuned to succeed in spite of itself. This is one super car which you can drive every day as the car exudes German build quality and restraint in equal terms. For the record, the 911 is the second oldest car in continuous production behind the Corvette and is fast, exotic, expensive, and delivers the sort of unadulterated joy of driving one could only expect from the best sports car ever made.

bullet McLaren F1

McLaren F1The McLaren F1 may have been renounced its top speed crown of 386.4km/h, but it did so without the help of forced induction, making it the fastest Naturally Aspirated road car to this day. One of the most important traits of this speed machine is that it has a unique three seat design, with the driver's seat positioned in the middle that optimizes the driving experience. This car basically is a combination of street car and race car. To sum it all McLaren F1 is still quite possibly the greatest road going car of all time. This exclusive car excels in the performance category with hands down efficiency making it one of the drool-worthy machines in the world.

bullet Ferrari 250 GTO

Ferrari 250 GTOThis is one car which would be a contender to many titles in the same breadth. Be it the best Ferrari of all time, best sports car of all time and the most beautiful car ever built, Ferrari 260 GTO could win all of these with much ease. But why is this car worthy of such high praises simply warming up here in the 3rd slot you might ask? It's because in the Ferrari 250 GTO it should be taken into account that in terms of ground breaking performance and overarching effect on the population at large, the 250 GTO could not come close to the two list topping cars.

bullet Bugatti Veyron

Bugatti VeyronThe Veyron simply brushes shoulders with the list topping greats not because of what it does, but how it does it. In a raw top speed of 407 Km/h, this Bugatti can still hold everything in one piece with much composure. Bugatti Veyron is not a stripped down street legal race car, but includes all the amenities deserving to carry a price tag of 1.2 million dollar car. This car is a road worthy luxury grand-tourer capable of breaking the speed limit nearly four times over without getting too excited.

bullet Lamborghini Miura

Lamborghini MiuraLambo Miura is one of the first sports cars to sport the mid-engine and popularized the idea which later became a trend setter for an entirely new age high performance cars. This car with the raging bull logo always was an untamed beast when it was time to speak about the power and energy. This car though was a mid-engined car like any other attractive cars such as Enzo, Ford GT, the Audi R8, the Countach, the Carrera GT, and the Murcielago, the Lamborghini Miura was pretty, just pretty and cute. There was a lot of feministic attributes present in the car that made it pretty. This car was also one of the most significant cars ever produced by Lamborghini.

bullet Ferrari Enzo

Ferrari EnzoFerrari Enzo bears the founder of Ferrari's name Enzo Ferrarri. This fact is just enough to spin a tale of its might around it. This is one road car where you are bound to get that Formula One experience in. Enzo is a sports car with a mid-engine design powered by a V12 which churns out a jaw dropping 660 bhp and can attain a top speed of 354.0557 Km/h. This explains the Enzo's performance which is in par to the flamboyant body design of the car itself. There were only 400 of these ever made, but the number of actual surviving units decreases seemingly on a monthly basis. We also have here a trivia on this car. There is a shrine dedicated to the Enzo deaths.

bullet Nissan Skyline

Nissan SkylineThis is car sprang out from the Playstation literally. Its extremity was the main reason behind its banning from the streets of North America. The new model R35 GTR, is the most advanced and craziest model ever to be churned out by Nissan. This car is entirely programmable, from its engine to its four wheel drive, and it gives the driver more readouts than could be humanly possible to even care about. Nissan R35 GTR or the Skyline appeals to the people who are used to shifting gears with their index fingers and driving with their thumbs. Driving this beast feels like reciting poetry.

bullet Chevrolet Stingray Corvette

Chevrolet Stingray CorvetteThis is one true American sports car and still is in many which ways. This car which was painted in red, blue and white was first rolled out from the factory in the 1960s. Though the Stingray was loud, muscular, torquey powered by a V8, it was small and had a out of place engine which delivered much more than the small car could actually take. But this car certainly had come to the sports car scene to stay for long which it religiously does in every which ways.

bullet Jaguar E-Type

Jaguar E-TypeThis is a car which even the greatest Enzo Ferrari could not hold on to his emotions by declaring it as the most beautiful car ever built. Need we say more on the style front of this car? Jaguar E-Type was the leaping cat built in 1960s to signal the revival of the post world-war blues. This Jag was extremely British in its style and performance, it was rebellious yet yuppie. This is the car which actually charmed its ways to the history books on sports car. Though this car was great on many aspects, it had its own share of shortcomings like that of overheating problems brake problems and so on. But on the whole this was one of the best cats to come out of the Jaguar factory.

bullet Mercedes Benz 300 SL Gullwing

Mercedes Benz 300 SL GullwingThe 300SL Gullwing is a perfect example of German engineering compiling the basic mixture of form and function. This Merc was completely out of the world when it was first shown to the world at the New York Auto Show in 1954 which led to open innumerable jaws. The design was revolutionary but plain, disciplined but pretty, and very German to the hilt. This was the fastest car of its time partially because it was also the first production car to use fuel injection, and partially because of its super light tubular frame, which made the use of those idiosyncratic ‘Gullwing’ doors necessary.
