Ford Figo was unveiled in India on 23rd September. The Figo is Ford's attempt to secure its foothold in the Indian car market. The Figo is a 4-door hatchback that will carry either 1200cc engine petrol or a 1.4-litre diesel under its sculpted bonnet. Figo is an Italian word meaning ?cool? and it aptly defines the car with its trendy looks. The Figo will get a spacious interior and will compete against the Fiat Grande Punto, Hyundai i20, Skoda Fabia,
Honda Jazz and Maruti Suzuki Ritz. The Ford Figo will be launched in March 2010.
Chevrolet Beat

Chevrolet's attempt to get a hold on the small car segment in India. The Beat will feature two engine options, a 82 bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine which is expected to be highly fuel efficient or a 57 bhp 936 cc diesel engine. The Chevy Beat will exhibit a stylish interior and sporty exterior with a large air dam and headlights placed all through the edges of the front hood. The car will be made locally as it is going to enter the Indian market in large numbers.
Hyundai i30
After an overwhelming success of the
i-series in India with the i10 and i20, Hyundai is all set to introduce the i30. The i30 hatchback will have a fuel efficient 1.4-litre engine in diesel and petrol variants. A choice of either a synchronous manual transmission or and automatic transmission will also be offered. The trendy and sleek i30 promises to offer optimal comfort with an array of features with a classy set up. The Hyundai i30 will come loaded with safety features like airbags, electronic stability program, anti-lock braking system and traction control etc. The car will make its Indian debut in the first quarter of 2010.
Volkswagen Polo
Volkswagen will be called “people's car maker” in India too when it will roll out the Polo hatchback in March 2010. The most-awaited Polo will come in 1.2L engine petrol and diesel engines. The
Volkswagen Polo will lock horns with the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Tata Indica Vista and Hyundai i10. Volkswagen has already started the development of the Polo in its factory in Pune and the first India-made Polo rolled out of its mill on 12th December.
Nissan Micra
The Nissan March will be introduced in the Indian car bazaar as the Micra. The Micra will enter the India in May 2010. The Micra will sport a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine and will come in two variants, namely 14E and 14C. Nissan has revealed the images of the Micra and it looks like this hatchback has all the makings of a winner with its cutting-edge styling. Moreover, the plush interiors will carry all the high level equipments with ample of safety features like ABS, EBD, airbags, reinforced cabins and crushable zones and brake assist. The Micra will go head-to-head with the class-leading
Maruti Suzuki Swift.
Fiat Bravo
The smart and elegant Fiat Bravo will hit Indian roads by the end of 2010. The bravo will be powered by a 1.9 L Multi-jet engine that can deliver 148 bhp. The Bravo is big, it turns out to be a sedan-sized hatchback. The front and rear fascia of the Bravo are similar to the
Grande Punto. Short bonnet, rounded corners and wedges waistline impart a very contemporary look to the Fiat Bravo. The Bravo hatchback will soon be joined by a Bravo Estate car.
Mahindra Renault Sandero
Hyundai claims that the Sandero from Mahindra-Renault JV sounds like its flagship model Santro. The
Mahindra Renault Sandero will be launched in the Indian small car segment in early 2010. The car is more than four metre long, hence roomier compared to other cars in its segment. With a room for five passengers, Sandero offers an option of fitting child seat to any three of the rear seats. Moreover, the rear doors can open up to 67°, making easier access to the rear seats. The Mahindra Renault Sandero will be available in 1.2 L petrol engine and 1.5 L diesel engine.
